Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained

Somehow, this story of how I won the California preliminary round to the US Amateur Championships (pool) was lost from the website, and showed only a blank page in the browser, so I restored it from backup and then cleaned it up a lot with formatting, removed some typos, and added some links.
